Successful 3rd International Sport for All Congress, in Kish, Iran

Hosted by the Iran Sport for all Federation (Kish Sport for All Association), the 3rd International Congress of Lifelong Sport for All and Physical Activity in Iran took place in Kish on February 19-21, 2019.  Around 400 participants attended the event from all over Iran.  The Iranian Sport for All Federation, under the leadership of its President Dr. Ali Majdara, and Vice-President and TAFISA Board Member Dr. Mitra Rouhi Dehkordi, partnered for this occasion with the Kish Province Sport for All Committee to bring the congress for the first time to Kish.

Over 2 days, the 400 participants learnt about topics such as Importance of marketing for development of Sport For All , Physical Activity for Adolescence and Ageing, Barriers and Precautions During Exercise, Fitness Assessment and Principle of Exercise Prescription for Older Adults, Keep Youngsters Involved in sport: Focus  12 – 18 year-olds, Corrective Games for Kids, The role of Sport for All in adolescence and ageing, Sport Entrepreneurship, The role of  Sport for All in childhood, Developing of physical literacy in children, Effect of exercise on mental health from a psychophysiological perspective, Strategies for development of Cognition in the childhood through game, Adolescence and Ageing Experiences and proven practise from Denmark and North Europe, Games for Seniors and Elderly.

The programme included lectures from ASFAA Vice-President Dato Sarjit Singh Sekhon (Malaysia), Ms. Dorien Dijk (Netherlands), Mr. Finn Bergren (Denmark), Mr. Kwang Kim (Korea), Mr. Burak Gokcil (Turkey), Ms. Christina Palmai (Hungary) along with Iranian Lecturers Dr. Ali Majdara, Dr. Mitra Rouhi and Dr. Saleh Rafiee, Mr. Babak Soodmand, Dr.Mehdi Bayati, Dr. Farhad Ghadiri, Dr. Ahmadreza Movahedi, and Dr. Hamed Abbasi.

6 workshops on children, adolescents, and the elderly were held at the congress.

The congress participants also enjoyed sightseeing and social programmes such as morning exercise beside the Persian Gulf and workshops in crossfit and pilates.

At the end of the congress, the participants were awarded a certificate.
