The IOC Sport and Active Society Commission launched its 2019 Development Grant process for NGOs, not for profit organisations and International and National Federations.
Bringing sport and physical activity to the urban setting is one of the key topics for the grants and the selected programmes will be awarded a 20,000 CHF grant to support their activities within this scope. The IOC website thus states:
"The world is urbanising at breath-taking speed – by 2050, it is expected that 68% of the world’s population will live in urban areas. This brings opportunities, but also challenges that are the rise of unhealthy lifestyles and non-communicable diseases. Sport and physical activity constitute a powerful solution to increase the well-being of citizens, and it is nowadays crucial to bring them to the doorsteps of urban dwellers: where they live, study, work, commute and relax. The IOC Sport and Active Society Commission will reward an innovative, cross-sectorial project that involves a partnership of multiple stakeholders and targets the city setting as a platform where to engage people in sports and physical activity participation."
The application deadline is 14 December 2018.
