The 2018 World Challenge Day which was held on the 30th May was the most triumphant so far, with a remarkable 52 million participants from 51 countries contributing towards the phenomenal success of the event.

Since its inception in 1991, the annual TAFISA World Challenge Day has grown significantly which has led to an exceptionally positive impact on physical activity levels worldwide.

As an international competition, similar-sized communities - from four continents - were pitted against each other to challenge who could motivate the highest number of community members to participate in 15 minutes of physical activity in one single day.  The response from communities this year was fantastic, with a variety of activities taking place for all ages and fitness levels.

As well as paired rivalries, all communities were entered in the TAFISA World Challenge Day Cup.  In total, 61 communities from 51 countries were divided in five categories based on population size.  The percentage of population that each community motivated to participate in 15 minutes of physical activity was recorded and the results of the TAFISA World Challenge Day Cup are as follows:

TAFISA World Challenge Day Cup Winners

Category 5

Belgrade, Serbia with 7.54% of the population participating

Category 4

Macao, China with 40.32% of the population participating

Category 3

Palma Soriano, Cuba with 46% of the population participating

Category 2

Kai, Japan with 81.81% of the population participating

Category 1

Altaneira, Brazil with 75.02% of the population participating

TAFISA would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all communities on their contribution towards the phenomenal success of this year's World Challenge Day, in particular the Cup Winners. TAFISA is proud and sincerely grateful for the involvement of 52 million citizens worldwide and every community should feel very proud for having played a pivotal role in strengthening the Global Sport for All Movement.
