New Year President's Greetings

18 December 2019

Season's Greetings

Dear TAFISA members, colleagues and friends,

Thank you for making 2019 such a positive, productive and memorable year. With your support, TAFISA has been able to grow in so many different directions. The TAFISA Mission 2030 has received support of signatories from over 60 countries worldwide and its political message is being heard at the top level. This is a historic achievement which paves the road to making the world a better place through Sport for All by 2030. The 26th TAFISA World Congress which took place in Tokyo, Japan successfully gathered 600 participants from 78 countries worldwide, bringing together Sport for All stakeholders from all fields and sectors, including International NGOs, Sport Ministries, National Olympic Committees, Sport for All Organisations and International Federations to advance the Global Sport for All Agenda. The 1st TAFISA World Martial Arts Festival in Ulyanovsk, Russia, initiated a new approach to present and use Martial Arts in a friendly, inclusive and welcoming non-competitive setting to promote health, social inclusion, cultural diversity and mutual understanding among other values shared by Sport for All and Martial Arts.

We have built on our successes on all continents, working together with our members to pursue our efforts in Europe and Asia and to reach out to Africa, the Americas and Oceania, developing new partnerships with exciting projects and opportunities. We have strengthened our network and cooperation with international bodies, including the IOC, European Commission, UNESCO, WHO, ASEAN, among others.

I am incredibly proud and humbled to be with the leadership team of such a great organization and global family, and look forward ever-so-much to what 2020, and beyond, has to bring. The 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games to take place in Lisbon, Portugal on October 1-7, 2020 will be a vibrant and colourful display of cultures, and Traditional Sports and Games, and I expect many delegations to attend and showcase their history and traditions.

On behalf of the TAFISA Board of Directors and office team, I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing and happy holiday season, and look forward to joining you next year on our mission towards a better world through Sport for All.
