The fifth workshop in the global Made to Play Coaching Girls Guide series was held on 9 May and co-organised by TAFISA and Nike Made to Play, in partnership with three members from the Balkans: Sport Union of Slovenia, Turkish Sport for All Federation, and Association Sport for All Serbia.
With over 70 registrations from 5 countries in the region, the workshop aimed to increase and enhance opportunities for girls and women to undertake sport and physical activity as well as highlight the necessity of equal representation at all levels.
The workshop was officially kicked-off by Fiona Johnson, TAFISA Board Member and Vice President of International Dance Organization, who gave words of welcome on behalf of the TAFISA Board of Directors. Her intervention was followed by expert speakers who shared their insights on the State of Play of three sports in the Balkans and provided valuable knowledge and experience on how to engage with girls and women in the sports movement:
Denise Robrade, TAFISA Project Manager moderated the workshop and facilitated an interactive roundtable discussion providing participants with the opportunity to share their experiences as coaches, leaders, and managers in recruiting and retaining girls in sports programmes, events, and initiatives. Following this, Viv Holt, Head of International Operations for Youth Sport Trust International, presented the Made to Play Coaching Girls Guide. This free and easily accessible resource aims to assist participants in making their sporting activities and sessions more appealing, inclusive, and accessible to girls.
TAFISA would like to express its gratitude to Nike Made to Play, Sport Union of Slovenia, Turkish Sport for All Federation, Association Sport for All Serbia, the speakers, and the participants for their contributions to the workshop.
