HELD EVERY FOUR YEARS IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION AROUND THE GLOBE.

The TAFISA Games is a week-long spectacular display of colour, dance, sports, culture, peace, friendship and fun. The Games festival offers a voyage of discovery around the globe, as delegations from every corner of the world showcase their Traditional Sports and Games (TSG), as well as unique and interesting modern sports (extreme, beach and new sports are just some examples).

World sport for all games

TAFISA World Sport for All Games typically attract up to 50.000 participants and visitors from up to 100 countries, and has often been under the patronage of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The primary objectives of the Games are to:

  • Promote Sport for All and physical activity participation,
  • Safeguard and promote Traditional Sports and Games and therefore World Intangible Heritage,
  • Encourage cooperation between nations,
  • Provide experience-sharing opportunities

The Games typically include demonstrations, friendly competitions, cultural events, shows, conferences and expos.


HOSTING THE TAFISA WORLD SPORT FOR ALL GAMES

Bidding for the 8th TAFISA Sport for All Games 2024 is now open!

We are inviting all members of the Global Sport for All Movement to apply or share within their network to help us identify the host for this flagship event.

PARTICIPATING IN THE TAFISA WORLD SPORT FOR ALL GAMES

The TAFISA Games is open to all and traditionally gathers participants from four target groups:

1. Demonstrations

TAFISA Member Organisations are invited to send one or more delegations to demonstrate their local, national or regional Traditional sports and/or Game(s). Selected “Invited Delegations” will receive significant support from the Organising Committee, including:

  • Free accommodation for 7 nights**
  • Free meals for 8 days**
  • Free access to all Games events and ceremonies**
  • Free local transport to and from airport, and between Games venues**

** For up to 10 members of the official delegation.

Delegations that are not selected to receive special support from the OC, or that are not TAFISA members, are still welcome to attend the Games at their own cost.

2. Friendly Competitions & Championships

TAFISA members are welcome to host friendly competitions or championships of their own sport or game, while still under the official banner of the Games. This gives our members the opportunity to be recognised as part of the event while providing to their own athletes with the opportunity to compete, using their own unique rules.

3. Spectators

The Games welcomes local and international spectators to experience Traditional Sports and Games from all over the world first hand.

4. Sponsors

Parties interested in sponsoring the Games or exhibiting their products or services at the Games should contact the TAFISA Office.

FLASHBACK ON THE 6TH TAFISA WORLD SPORT FOR ALL GAMES

The last edition of the TAFISA World Sport for All Games took place form October 6th to 12th, 2016, in Jakarta, Indonesia. With the theme “Unity in Diversity”, the Games gathered some 35.000 participants from 83 countries, including 2.500 internationals and more than 100 sports and games.
