WHILE TAFISA MAKES A GLOBAL CAUSE OF THE SAFEGUARDING AND PROMOTION OF TRADITIONAL SPORTS AND GAMES, IT IS A JOINT APPROACH WITH LOCAL ACTION THAT WILL MAKE IT A SUSTAINABLE SUCCESS.

Tafisa regional TSG centres

TAFISA endeavours to support local stakeholders in their initiatives. Launched in 2014, the TAFISA Regional TSG Centres programme aims to establish a worldwide network of like-minded organisations willing to safeguard and promote Traditional Sports and Games, through research, policy and practice.

Organisations interested in hosting a TAFISA regional TSG centres are welcome to contact the TAFISA Office.

Two TAFISA Regional TSG Centres have opened so far in H.V.P.Mandal, Amravati, India, and the Gerlev Sports Academy in Denmark.

 

H.V.P. MANDAL

 

HVPM

Shree H. V. P. Mandal, Amravati, India, was established in 1914 and is a voluntary, social, non-political or secular institute, managed with democratic principles and practices. It is founded on the broader principles of equality, fraternity and social justice. Strong focus is put on the safeguarding of Traditional Sports and Games.

The TAFISA Regional TSG Centre, under the patronage of UNESCO, offers the following programmes:

  • Composition of a bibliography of books and journals dedicated to TSG in regional and international languages (Ongoing project)
  • Short term summer vacation courses in TSG (next dates: 10th May – 9th June 2018)
  • Lecture Sessions & Symposium on TSG & Yoga (Next Dates : 8th & 9th September 2018)
  • Traditional Sports & Games Festival (6th edition on Friday 19th October 2018.)
  • Exchange Programme with students and professors of the Gerlev TAFISA Regional TSG Centre in Denmark (as per signed MoU between the two Institutions).

GRELEV SPORTS ACADEMY

 

GERLEV

The Gerlev Physical Education and Sports Academy, founded in 1938, is the oldest sports academy in Denmark. Since it was founded, Gerlev has been strongly focussed on developing and creating excitement about movement and sports. Recently, Gerlev has contributed to revising the image of sports through Traditional Sports and Games, parkour and dancing.

The TAFISA Regional TSG Centre offers the following programmes:

  • The European TSG play-park: the public can come and try hundreds of TSG
  • Mobile TSG sessions in schools, hospitals, harbours, etc.
  • TSG Courses (next date: 2nd – 4th May, 2017) – register at http://gerlev.dk/events/tsg2
  • TSG specialty as part of the Academy’s curriculum
  • Collection of Danish and European TSG
  • Exchange programme with students and professors of the HVPM/TAFISA Regional TSG Centre in India.
