TAFISA and UNESCO have established a strong partnership for the promotion of TSG over the years, resulting in the recognition of TAFISA as an official partner by UNESCO in 2011, and the integration of TAFISA as part of the CIGEPS (Intergovernmental Committee for Physical Education and Sport) Permanent Consultative Committee.

Jointly published policy papers include:

• TAFISA / UNESCO Busan Appeal on the Promotion and Preservation of Traditional Sports and Games (2008)
• TAFISA / UNESCO Siauliai Call for Good Practices in ‘Traditional Sport and Games and Community Development (2012)
• TAFISA / UNESCO Jakarta Call for Action on Active Cities (2016)

UNESCO also provides patronage to the TAFISA World Sports for All Games and Regional TSG Centre in Amravati, India.
