On 23 October, the TAFISA and Université de Lorraine MoU was signed and presented at a conference on "Developing Sport for All: Today's Challenges and Tomorrow's Solutions" hosted by the Faculty of Sports Science of the Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France.
TAFISA Secretary General Jean-Francois Laurent highlighted the significance of this partnership for the development of a qualified and impact-driven approach to Sport for All: “The implementation of Sport for All at the grassroots level requires trained volunteers and professionals that take leadership in creating a better world through Sport for All. We, the Sport for All Movement, also need to step up in the measurement of programmatic impact and exchange of knowledge internationally to fuel evidence-based interventions and policies. This partnership with the Université de Lorraine is another step towards achieving those aims; we pride ourselves in partnering with a leading University in the field.”
For the signature of the MoU, Jean-Francois Laurent was joined by Pierre Degott, Vice-President of the Université de Lorraine, and Badreddine Kriem, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science.
The Memorandum of Understanding will foster student and staff mobility, exchange and internships, the delivery of capacity-building initiatives and the exchange of knowledge at the International level – marked by the co-chairmanship of TAFISA’s Knowledge Exchange Commission given to Université de Lorraine’s professor Aurélie Van Hoye.
The Conference brought together various experts and speakers to discuss future developments of the Sport for All Movement, including TAFISA Members’ Fédération Francaise des Clubs Omnisports (Ali Kada) and ANESTAPS (Justin Debeve), but also other organisations such as the University of Jyväskylä (Katja Rinta-Antila) and University of Limerick (Jenna Lorusso) – among others.
TAFISA thanks the Université de Lorraine for the welcome and trust for the years to come.
