TAFISA Vice President Elected President of FASANOC

On 1 May, the Annual General Assembly of the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) was convened. TAFISA Vice President (Oceania) Cathy Wong was elected President of FASANOC, with the majority of votes in the first round. The newly elected executive committee is as follows:

  • Inoke Niubalavu (Baseball)
  • Lucy Erasito (Swimming)

Vice President of Finance:

  • Petero Vatu (plus one-year term as an Independent Legal Representative)

  • Mr. Vidhya Lakhan

Honorary Solicitor:

Cathy Wong’s first-round victory highlights the strong support she enjoys within Fiji’s sporting community and underscores confidence in her vision for the future of sport in the country. In her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead FASANOC and shared her commitment to advancing the organization. She emphasized the need to strengthen relationships with National Federations and promote a spirit of collaboration to elevate Fiji’s presence on the global sporting stage.

FASANOC’s election process follows the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) model, ensuring a transparent and fair selection of its leaders. With this new leadership team in place, FASANOC is well-positioned to build on past successes and guide the organization toward a successful journey to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games and beyond.
