On 9 - 10 September, the INTERACT+ project successfully held a Capacity Building workshop at the Sport Sciences Faculty of the Université de Lorraine in Nancy. The two-day event brought together 23 students who are now certified and featured four comprehensive modules.
The workshop was expertly led by Jörg Benner from the European Flying Disc Federation and Aurélie van Hoye from the Sport Sciences Faculty at Université de Lorraine, who also represented the University of Limerick, a project partner.
This capacity building training was the third in a series of seven workshops designed to support International and National Sport Federations across Europe. It aimed to equip the next generation of international sport leaders with a deep understanding of “Sport for All” and the social responsibilities facing national and international sport federations. The program is dedicated to enhancing the capacity of sport organisations to integrate Sport for All initiatives into their operations, events, and policies in a sustainable way.
The French students showed great enthusiasm, particularly in exploring how sport organizations can expand their activities to reach diverse target groups. To meet the specific needs of the students, the workshop included an increased focus on group work and interactive sessions. During these sessions, participants developed creative ideas for tailoring sports programs to different groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities.
As we look ahead, we are excited to continue this journey with the next Capacity Building workshop scheduled for 2 - 3 October at the University of Lausanne.

The INTERACT+ project spans 36 months, running from January 2023 to December 2025. It builds upon the successes of the previous Erasmus+ funded INTERACT project (January 2021 – December 2022), which delivered valuable outcomes such as a pledge, a directory, a good practices platform, and an extended toolkit for diverse target groups, purposes, venues, and project scopes. The INTERACT+ project continues this work by offering workshops, conducting research, and developing an INTERACT+ label to further enhance capacity building across the sport sector.
