Jorge de Carvalho Appointed “TAFISA Special Advisor for the Portuguese-Speaking World”

The TAFISA Board of Directors has appointed Jorge de Carvalho "TAFISA Special Advisor for the Portuguese-Speaking World".

With this appointment, TAFISA recognises Jorge de Carvalho's impressive work and experience in the field of Sport for All and physical activity, and his extensive knowledge and understanding of the Sport for All Movement and of the Portuguese-speaking world. 

The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) is a space united by the common use of the Portuguese language, made up of more than 300 million people on four continents: Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Principe (Africa Region), East-Timor (Oceania / South Pacific), Brazil (America) and Portugal (Europe). 

Jorge de Carvalho, former Director of the Sports Department of the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth, I.P. (IPDJ, IP) played an active role as a representative of Portugal in the period 2012-2022, with presences in TAFISA General Assemblies and Congresses, World and European Sport for All Games, TAFISA Europe Steering Committee, Certified Leadership Courses, and participation in Erasmus+ Sport Projects, among many others. 
 
At the 27th TAFISA World Congress 2022 in Portoroz, he was distinguished with the TAFISA “Friends for Life" Award. 

Jorge de Carvalho is currently: 

  • Coordinator of Sport at the Conference of Ministers for Youth and Sport (CMJD) of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP). 
  • Trainer of Human Resources in Special Education and Rehabilitation, Sports for Disabled and Paralympic in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Sao Tome and Principe, since 1983 to present day. 

Jorge de Carvalho's extensive body of work has been published nationally and internationally, in Portuguese, English, Spanish and Mandarin.
