We wish you, your colleagues, family and friends health and every happiness for the coming year.
Dear TAFISA members, colleagues and friends,
Thank you for making 2021 such a positive, productive and memorable year. With your support, TAFISA has been able to grow in so many different directions.
This year, the 7th TAFISA World Sport for All Games was hosted in a unique hybrid format, streamed online and in Lisbon, Portugal on 18–24 June to celebrate Traditional Sports and Games, modern sports, cultures and history from over 150 organisations across 50 countries.
The TAFISA World Walking Day – 24 Hours Around the Globe went beyond all expectations, as participants successfully passed the baton through 86 countries across time zones from east to west in a planet-wide relay. Dozens of thousands took part and shared powerful messages of peace, access to sport and education for all, gender equity, health, and solidarity against COVID-19, among many other causes, working together to create the most inclusive and accessible 24-hour relay.
We have built on our successes on all continents, working together with our members to pursue our efforts in Europe and Asia and to reach out to Africa, the Americas and Oceania, developing new partnerships with exciting projects and opportunities. We have stayed in touch with our members and partners through our Mission 2030 Workshop Series, which gathered over 1500 participants from more than 80 countries across five events. We have held and contributed to webinars, online meetings, online capacity building opportunities such as the TAFISA Certified Leadership Course, and virtual conferences, continuing our efforts to keep the Global Sport for All Movement united and connected. We have worked together alongside international bodies, including the IOC, European Commission, Council of Europe, UNESCO, WHO, ASEAN, UN ECOSOC, among others.
I am incredibly proud and humbled to be with the leadership team of such a great organisation and global family, and look forward ever-so-much to what 2022 and the future will bring. The 27th TAFISA World Congress to take place in Portoroz, Slovenia, on 8–12 June, will constitute a milestone in the history of the Global Sport for All Movement. We're also looking forward to the 2nd TAFISA European Sport for All Games coming up in the region of Umbria, Italy, from 23–29 September, which will be a vibrant and colourful display of cultures, and Traditional Sports and Games! They will be an excellent opportunity to gather our Sport for All family!
Last, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all TAFISA members for their constant efforts and work towards creating a better world. With your passion, commitment and determination, you are the heart of the Global Sport for All Movement and we've been truly impressed by the countless initiatives launched by our members throughout the COVID-19 crisis. I have recently addressed this topic in a letter to TAFISA members and the Global Sport for All Movement, which you may read below:
On behalf of the TAFISA Board of Directors and office team, I wish you all a wonderful, relaxing and happy holiday season, and look forward to joining you next year on our mission towards a better world through Sport for All.
Sincerely,
Prof. Ju-Ho Chang
TAFISA President
