On 26 April, the city of Plovdiv welcomed 200 participants to the Sport for Planetary Health conference. Organised by BG BeActive, the event gathered representatives and experts from the region and all over Europe to look at how sports can be an effective tool to promote sustainability, environmental protection, and overall planetary health.

During a panel discussion on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) in sport, TAFISA Head of Operations Gaëtan Garcia reflected on the challenges and approaches to translate policy and principles into active governance within organisations, and how adopting Sport for All as a philosophy can help shape the attitudes and goals of relevant stakeholders.

TAFISA member ASFA Serbia shared their experience with green sports as President Branko Vujovic joined a panel on "Barriers and opportunities for green sports in Bulgaria and the region" while Manager of partners and international relations Marina Vukotic led a Masterclass on "Creating realistic plans for sustainability in sports organizations".

The 1-day conference provided powerful insights linking theory and practice, sharing inspiring examples of how the various actors connected to the sport sector – sport organisations, municipalities, media, schools, businesses – can implement practical measures and initiatives to contribute to planetary health.
