On Wednesday 15 December, TAFISA was privileged to participate in a seminar organised by the Knowledge Centre for Sport and Physical Activity as part of NL Sports Week at ExpoDubai. The event was held in the most sustainable pavilion of the ExpoDubai and live streamed through the Virtual DutchDubai YouTube channel. The session focused on the importance of sport and physical activity in the lives of women and girls. TAFISA Business Development and Fundraising Manager Keri McDonald joined remotely to provide a broad overview of the gender gap in sport and physical activity and the possibilities to close this gap, referring to outcomes of Erasmus+ and European Commission co-funded projects that TAFISA is coordinating, namely Europe in Action and FLOT. This constituted a great opportunity for TAFISA to share the stage with inspiring speakers, such as Amna Obaid al Mehiri (UAE Professional Basketball Player), Abeer al Khaja (Dubai Sports Council), Mariam Rashed Al Mansoori (Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Sport Association, Abu Dhabi), Jacqueline Kronenburg (Knowledge Centre for Sport & Physical Activity Netherlands) and Laura van Leeuwen (Ajax/Sharjah FC), to discuss the extremely important topic of gender equity in sport and physical activity.
