From the 20th to 21st of May 2017, an International Traditional Sports and Games (TSG) Meeting took place in Évora/Arraiolos, in the centre of Portugal. It was also the occasion to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the traditional “Malha” game through a competition involving several hundreds of players.

The big event was well organised by the Intermunicipal Community of Alentejo Central (CIMAC) along with the support of Traditional Games Association of Guarda (AJTG). Thirteen Portuguese organisations and six international organisations from Spain, Italy and France showed their traditional games to the public in Arraiolos.

Beside the play, the Culture Centre hosted stands built by participating organisations for people to see and learn more about the games and activities. Work results of TSG dissemination were shown in these stands, including publications, game material and poster exhibitions, among others.

The famous Portuguese hospitality accompanied all participants and was appreciated. It was an inspiring event where people could experience the variety and richness of TSG, able to gather all generations with the same purpose: to play outdoor and having fun together.
