On 18 – 20 July, TAFISA President Wolfgang Baumann visited Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU). This visit included several key events and discussions aimed at strengthening the collaboration between TAFISA and LJMU and celebrating notable achievements in the field of global sports and physical activity.

A highlight of the visit was the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between TAFISA and LJMU, initially signed in 2017. This renewed agreement reaffirms both organizations' commitment to promoting research, education, physical activity, health, and well-being through sports and active living.

President Wolfgang Baumann also attended the launch of the Liverpool Centre for Olympic Research on Inclusion (LCORI). The Olympic Research Centre in Liverpool is the first of over 70 worldwide to focus exclusively on inclusion and joins a network of Olympic Study Centres across the globe. The centre’s vision is to create a global community in which everyone is included and able to participate in society, regardless of their ability, gender, ethnicity or socio-economic background, and where change is encouraged and celebrated to deliver this inclusive global community. This visit was an opportunity to present the TAFISA Friends for Life Award to John Marsden, former commissioner for TAFISA Active Cities. The award decision was made by the TAFISA Board of Directors in 2023 to honour and recognise his significant contribution to the growth of TAFISA.

TAFISA extends its gratitude to Board member Keith George and John Marsden for their support and contributions to the organisation. Their efforts have been instrumental in advancing TAFISA's mission.

Looking ahead, discussions are ongoing regarding further collaboration with the Liverpool Centre for Olympic Research on Inclusion (LCORI).
