Trinidad and Tobago will see three great events hosted in September, raising the bar and building capacity in pertinent issues such as achieving social inclusion, gender equality and what it means to be an Active City Island.
The three events include:
"Achieving Social Inclusion & Gender Equality in the Caribbean Using Sports & Physical Activity”
A joint TAFISA-UNESCO initiative, supported by both Trinidad and Tobago and St. Vincents and the Grenadines, this two-day workshop will be attended by representatives across this Caribbean as part of UNESCO’s Program of Participation for Member States. To be held 21st and 22nd September 2017, in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
“Gender Equality and Empowering Women in Sports”
A Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee initiative, following the IOC mandate and supported by TAFISA, to focus on empowering and increasing the participation of women and girls in sports. This one-day seminar will see an impressive agenda of local and regional speakers, round tables and panel discussions to boost knowledge and know-how in the country. To be held 23rd September 2017, in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
“TAFISA Advanced Certified Leadership Course on Becoming an Active City Island”
Hosted by the First Citizens Sports Foundation, this is an extension to the Certified Leadership Course TAFISA conducted in Tobago in 2014. The two-day training course will focus on progress since 2014, and building an effective strategy for increasing participation in Sport for All and physical activity across all of Tobago, using principles from TAFISA’s “Take Back Your Streets… Take Back Your Future!” program. To be held 25th and 26th September 2017, in Tobago.
TAFISA gives thanks to its program partners, UNESCO and the First Citizens Sports Foundation, as well as the TTOC, and in particular Catherine Forde (Trinidad and Tobago), Keith Joseph (St. Vincents and the Grenadines), for all their hard work in preparing for such excellent programs.
