We are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of Prof. Walther Tröger on 30 December 2020, at the age of 91.

A former President of the German National Olympic Committee (1992-2002), and IOC Honorary Member, Walther Tröger was a pioneer in the Global Sport for All Movement and led the IOC's "Sport for All" Commission (now "Sport and Active Society" Commission) from 1990 to 2010. His support greatly contributed to the foundation and growth of TAFISA; Prof. Tröger notably enabled the organisation to connect with major stakeholders in the field, attended TAFISA Congresses, and helped make the 4th TAFISA World Sport for All Games 2008 in Busan, South Korea a success. In 2009, Walther Tröger was awarded the TAFISA Jürgen Palm Award for his outstanding contribution to the Global Sport for All Movement.

TAFISA offers its deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and friends.
