Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson was chosen by the TAFISA Board of Directors to receive the TAFISA Jürgen Palm Award for her outstanding contribution to sport and social inclusion, as highlighted through her many active roles across the U.K. Upon receiving the Award, Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson commented:  

The current situation with the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide is prompting us all to take exceptional measures. In alignment with recommendations from the WHO, governmental authorities and health experts, TAFISA has decided to suspend any international travel of its Board of Directors and staff members until further notice and will thus not join any international event during the next two months.

From 26th to 27th February, TAFISA hosted the kick-off meeting for the co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Commission project “Europe in Action”.

TAFISA attended the 3rd International Ethnosport Forum which was held in Antalya, Turkey, from 22nd to 23rd February. This event was hosted by the World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC) with the theme of “Reviving Traditional Sports”.

TAFISA and the partners of the “Active City Innovation” (ACI) project met in Munich, Germany, on 20–21 February to discuss the progress to date and plan future developments.

An important step was taken on 10 February 2020 as, following their election by the TAFISA General Assembly in November 2019, the Malaysian Sports for All Council (MASFA), Sarawak Ministry for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sport, and Sarawak Sports Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with TAFISA and officially announced the hosting of the 1st TAFISA Asian Sport for All Games 2022 in Kuching City, Sarawak, Malaysia. 

From 6th to 7th February, TAFISA hosted the kick-off meeting for the co-funded by the European Commission project “Training the Female Sport for All Leaders of Tomorrow” in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

On 30 January, TAFISA Secretary General was invited by the Landessportbund Hessen in Frankfurt, Germany on the occasion of their Board Meeting. The Landessportbund Hessen is the regional sports authority in the Land of Hesse and umbrella organisation for sport clubs and organisations in the Land.

On the 30th January TAFISA attended the annual Erasmus+ Sport Infoday, hosted by the European Commission and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). This event gathered sport stakeholders from all across Europe to inform on the political context, future programme and funding opportunities from 2020 and beyond.

In the framework of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland (9-22 January), TAFISA Secretary General Wolfgang Baumann had an excellent opportunity to meet with various stakeholders in the Swiss city. Wolfgang Baumann was invited in his capacity as a Member of the IOC Sport and Active Society Commission to join the Commission’s meeting, where he reported on TAFISA’s current activities.
