On 30 January, TAFISA Secretary General was invited by the Landessportbund Hessen in Frankfurt, Germany on the occasion of their Board Meeting. The Landessportbund Hessen is the regional sports authority in the Land of Hesse and umbrella organisation for sport clubs and organisations in the Land.

On the 30th January TAFISA attended the annual Erasmus+ Sport Infoday, hosted by the European Commission and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). This event gathered sport stakeholders from all across Europe to inform on the political context, future programme and funding opportunities from 2020 and beyond.

In the framework of the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland (9-22 January), TAFISA Secretary General Wolfgang Baumann had an excellent opportunity to meet with various stakeholders in the Swiss city. Wolfgang Baumann was invited in his capacity as a Member of the IOC Sport and Active Society Commission to join the Commission’s meeting, where he reported on TAFISA’s current activities.

Following up on the 2018 tour to Copenhagen, Denmark and the 2019 tour to Hamburg, Germany, the IAKS International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities is organising its 2020 IAKS Study Trip to Vancouver, Canada from 26 to 27 May 2020.

On 28-29 January, the House of Sport in Brussels welcomed TAFISA Project Manager Gaëtan Garcia among project partners to kick-off the FAIR+ project.

The EUPASMOS (European Physical Activity and Sport Monitoring System) project, led by TAFISA member the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, is coming to a close, and TAFISA’s Junior Director Jean-Francois Laurent was invited to attend the consortium’s annual meeting on 22 – 24 January 2020 in Lisbon, Portugal.

On 16-17 January, InSport project partners met in the unique inclusive stadium of Sportclub "Only Friends" in Amsterdam, Netherlands to refine the project's results and discuss InSport's future and legacy as the 2.5-year project is set to conclude on 31 June 2020. TAFISA Project Manager Gaëtan Garcia joined the other project partners to exchange on the development of guidelines for inclusion across Europe. 

On 13th and 14th December, TAFISA attended the 4th Americas Best Practices Symposium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This event was jointly hosted by the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Olympic Solidarity and Panam Sports. Attendees included leading figures from all 41 National Olympic Committees across the Americas as well as Ministries and sporting bodies.

On 4-7 December 2019, the Dominican Federation for Sport for All – under the leadership of its President Joaquin Albizu Levy – hosted the first TAFISA Certified Leadership Course in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. 

Invited by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation’s (APEC) Sport Policy Network (the ASPN), TAFISA attended the very first “APEC Sport Cities Forum: International Events x Sports Innovation” in Chinese Taipei on 5 November 2019. TAFISA’s Junior Director Jean-Francois Laurent was given the opportunity, as a keynote speaker, to introduce the audience to TAFISA’s initiatives, including the Global Active City Programme.
